My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Great Pry/Standard Poodle/Giant Schzauzer
Age: 1-1/2
Weight: 61 Pounds
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes
Energy Level: Medium

Buddy is an owner surrender because they didn't have time for him anymore. He was kept outside all his life and his coat of fur demonstrated that. He was completely matted when we took him in and he could barely sit down. You could tell he was incredibly uncomfortable. The owners say that Buddy's mom was a Great Pyrenees. However, after his haircut, he looked like an adorable Giant Schnauzer. He's a sweet, sweet boy and yearns for acceptance. He was very nervous when he was first brought into the vet and would walk slowly on the tiled floor. He gently introduced himself to the house cat at the vet's office. He also was a complete gentleman as he walked by kennels of barking dogs. He was not phased by them. He enjoying what it's like to get pet and given attention. Appears he didn't get much attention based on his unassuming nature. Overall, Buddy will make an excellent family member and companion.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
