Bevan was brought into the shelter with his sister, Dakota. They were found alongside the highway and a good samaritan picked them up. They stayed in one place on the highway for who knows how long. They were paired up in their cell together so they would have company. They clearly relied on each other. Bevan clearly took care of his sister. She would look to him for protection. As a little pup, he was very brave. Despite his upbringing he is a happy little guy and welcomes other dogs into his life. He love to play tug-of-war. Pictured is Bevan his sister and another black lab named, Loki. Clearly he plays well with others. Bevan is starved for attention and is looking for someone to call mom or dad.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
