My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HANNAH HAS BEEN ADOPTED!Hannah is a beautiful, shy, quiet and very gentle 7-8 year old female, purebred German Shepherd. Hannah's story is a sad one, she was first spotted in early 2O13 living in wooded area behind a high school. She had never been seen in the area before, so it's assumed she was dumped there. She was regularly seen by locals, however she eluded capture for over 18 months. She survived two brutal winters on her own and was finally darted with a tranquilizer and taken to an animal control facility in early June. She was thin and exhausted.Hannah has spent a few months recovering from her ordeal and she is now ready to find her forever family. Despite living on her own for almost 2 years, it's apparent that Hannah was at one time someone's companion. She already knew a few basic commands and settled right back into living in a home. She can be shy at first, but loves and craves human attention.Like most Shepherds, she is very loyal and bonds closely to her people. Hannah would love to find a home that is willing to be patient with her while she adjusts to a new environment. She's happy with a soft bed to lay on and a couple of very short walks a day. Hannah is also sharing her foster home with several other dogs and gets along well with everyone, however she is easily overwhelmed by a lot of activity so she would prefer a more quiet home. With a thorough veterinary exam, it was discovered that Hannah had been shot with a BB gun and has multiple bullets still lodged in her chest. She also has sustained a traumatic injury to her lower spine, most likely from being hit by a car. Hannah gets around just fine right now, but also has arthritis typical for a Shepherd of her age. She's on a daily anti-inflamatory and joint supplement, but her ideal home would have few stairs. Hannah has had an especially tough life and we are looking for an extra special, caring and patient home for her. Could it be yours?
