My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JACKSON is a 7 year old yellow neutered male Lab who weighs 83 pounds. He's a big 'ole boy just eager to give love! He loves playing fetch, going for leashed walks and is absolutely in love with any tennis ball! Overall, he's a great, low maintenance dog who would fit well in any family. He's good with other dogs, but he's nervous around dogs larger than him. He's approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (9/30): Jackson continues to be a pleasure to foster. He's his foster's shadow, ~ follows her everywhere! He goes on morning walks and he sniffs the air throughout .. no pulling on lead for this guy, unless he sees a bunny, then he'll crouch to observe the critter. Onto breakfast, then a bit of tussle time with the resident dogs, a few moments for fetch (he likes the stuffed bunny and tennis balls) and then he'll stroll over to the crate as His foster prepares to leave for work. He's very low maintenance and prefers to use non-verbal communication skills to express his desires (i.e., a long soulful stare equates to "I need to go potty" or an exaggerated lick of your face and hair equates to "time for cuddle" or licking your hand equates to "dinner time!"). He LOVES car rides and is very well behaved throughout. He also knows "wait" and "down" .. he loves all of the dog beds as it seems he rotates to a different bed each day .. We have yet to hear him bark ..the resident dog adores him and he's a true gem! He does snore though! :)

Update (9/11): Jackson is a sweetheart! He made friends instantly with foster's two male dogs .. they play and tussle with toys each evening. While walking, Jackson is a pro at heeling. However, be on the lookout because he has a fascination with cicadas! Fortunately, he responds well to "drop it". While he gets excited when he sees the leash/harness combo, a 15 minute walk each morning and evening are enough for this boy. He has a spring to his step, but as he is a bit overweight he tires out quickly. In addition to "drop it", he also knows "sit", "wait", "down", "come" and "out of the kitchen".

He answers to Jackson or JackJack. He waits patiently for meals and chews his daily medications like they are gummi bears! Last weekend during a thunderstorm he was a bit anxious, but that was resolved when he crawled onto my lap. He's a big boy who doesn't bark a lot ~ his way of communicating with you is to stare with soulful eyes and whimper just a bit. Oh, and he snores! Boy, does he snore! He's also perfectly crate and house trained, though you may need to entice him into the crate with the promise of a treat; once inside he settles immediately.
