My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

REMINGTON is a 5 year old neutered chocolate male Lab who weighs 52 pounds. He's a very handsome and friendly boy! Remington was turned into the shelter because he doesn't like cows and was chasing them. Remington comes from a rural area and would not do well living in the city or in an apartment/townhouse setting. He needs to go to a family with a fenced-in yard. He is thin and needs to gain a couple of pounds. He's hungry, so he needs to be fed separately. He was nervous at the vet's office, so future vet visits need to go slowly with him. He is good with other dogs and approved for kids aged 10+.

Update (9/26): Hi! My name is Remington, Remi for short. I love my foster's backyard where I run around, play catch, and spend time laying in the sun. After my morning walk, I enjoy a mid- morning nap, then it's playtime again later in the afternoon. I have great manners and when company comes over I will sit, stay, and lay down when asked. I love all people and enjoy meeting other dogs too. I don't need a crate since I do great home alone, but when my people return, I make a big deal about how great it is to see them! They say I'm very cute when I nap since I sometimes sleep with all paws up in the air, but I guess it just feels good. I'm a little on the small size, about 53 pounds, which is great because I don't take up that much space on the bed. Give me a call if you're looking for a new best friend!

Update (9/18): : Remington is a very happy boy, fun to have around. He can be vocal sometimes when his foster comes back from being gone for a few hours and wants to know where she's been. He seems very submissive - comes when called but lays down at my feet and rolls over, and hunkers down when I leash him for walks. He’s enjoying the fenced yard (about an acre or so) and it's fun to watch him run - he’s very fast. He seems interested in having dogs around, there are several next door and it seems he wants to play with them but hasn’t had the opportunity yet. We spent yesterday in DC and walked around the neighborhood - he was great meeting other dogs - friendly and tails wagging.

Update (9/13): ! Remington would love a home with a fenced backyard; he loves running in the yard especially when a frisbee or tennis ball is involved. He has wonderful house manners and although he has a nice dog bed - has discovered the benefits of lounging on the sofa and foster mom's bed. He is extremely handsome and has a wonderful joyful personality.

Foster update (9/12): Remington has been soooo good. We have about an acre fenced in here and he loves to just run around the yard. He’ll chase a tennis ball and frisbee but won’t necessarily bring it back. He has no bad manners, no counter surfing, no getting in the trash. He takes treats (and a piece of steak!) very gently. He barks at anyone coming in the door, but quickly waits to be petted once he’s sniffed the visitor. He and the cat next door have been doing a stare down thru the fence, but he doesn’t bark or anything. He preferred to sleep by himself last night in the downstairs family room; he seemed afraid to come upstairs to sleep with us in the bedroom. Today he reluctantly came upstairs when we coaxed him and within 5 minutes was on my bed. But he likes it on the first floor. He has a wonderful calm temperament in the house; mostly lays around and sleeps, doesn’t seem to know what to do with toys yet. He sits and comes when called, but when he comes he appears afraid and will lay down at your feet, like someone must’ve punished him, so he can be somewhat timid when he doesn’t know what to expect. A really nice dog!

From LR foster: Remington is settling in nicely. He loves to run around the yard. He's a very nice dog.
