My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I'm Archie, a very charming 11 lb. shih tzu, (possibly with some maltese mixed in) and I'm ready to bring some smiles into your life! AAP got me out of the big city pound where I was in the medical section because I was turned in all scraped up and totally matted...so they gave me a not-too-stylish, really close buzz cut and got me started on the road to healing. I'm so lucky to get out of there and am now in a foster home where they're feeding me good groceries (I'm really skinny) and taking better care of me than anyone in my life has before.

I'm learning all about ground rules and within a few days I learned to sit, come when called to my new name, and how to approach the family cat (namely, with a little respect). I'm a treat fanatic, so teaching me with them is a snack – I mean "snap". Also, not to brag, but I heard my foster folks say that I respond very well to positive reinforcement and am particularly great at listening: I’ll sit and look up at you (heartwarmingly cute) if I think you’re talking to me.

Although I'm about 5, I have the energy of an even younger dog, and would really like to find a family who can take me to run around at a dog park, take me for walks, and generally wants a little buddy to have some fun with. I LOVE other dogs so living with another fun dog or having play dates with other dogs would be so very excellent. Although I will need regular romping time, my new human(s) should also be prepared to give me some must-have lap time, cause that's one of the best places I can think of to be!

Archie's adoption fee of $300 includes: vet exam, dental cleaning, distemper combo vaccination, rabies and bordetella vaccinations, heartworm test (neg.), routine deworming, flea control, heartworm prevention, microchip and neuter.
