Reno is a cute little guy that appears to be a mix between a Norfolk Terrier and a Cairn Terrier.
He appeared be close to his correct weight at 11.3 pounds and is guesstimated to be 2 years old. He also appears to love to be held. He will bark at you if you don’t catch him in your arms when he jumps up but all is forgiven if you will just pick him up. He also loves to play ball and sleep in the bed with his foster mom. Reno has been neutered, brought up to date on vaccinations and is on monthly Ivermectin based heartworm prevention as well as flea & tick prevention. Due to the neglect he suffered prior to rescue, he tested positive for heartworms. We have had 100% excellent results using a conservative Ivermectin based protocol for handling heartworm positive dogs that are asymptomatic like Reno. He will test negative in 1 to 2 years or less. He is simply being given monthly Ivermectin based heartworm prevention (like heartgard) which we give anyway and he has never missed a beat. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application.
You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
