My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

30 MARCH 2015: Unfortunately, Minnie's adoption didn't work out, and she is back with BREW. Stay tuned for more updates once we can move her into a foster home!

27 DECEMBER 2014: Minnie is staying in a short-term foster home over the holidays, and she has had fun going for walks and playing with the other dogs, including three younger females. She is still working on house-training.

2 DECEMBER 2014: Minnie arrived two days ago and is off to a great start in her foster home! She is a 27-pound, tri-color gal, with black highlights on her luxurious ears and around her muzzle. She’s very friendly and has done nicely with the three resident dogs and mostly ignored our cats. Minnie clearly has experience living in a house – she is unphased by stairs, is at home on the couch, and settles nicely into her crate at bedtime. She also generally grasps basic commands such as “sit,” “come,” and “off.” She needs a refresher on house-training, but she regularly goes when let out and will potty on the leash. Her leash skills could also use a little work, but she enjoys walks, as well as looking out windows (car and house). She also likes Nylabones and dog toys.

Yesterday, I worked from home, and Minnie was pretty unphased by my grumbly, 60-pound hound mix in her attempts to be his assistant (under-desk) office manager and managed to sleep peacefully in the office most of the day. Today, she was crated while I was away for work, and she barked some when I left, but she was quiet when I returned and kept her crate clean and dry. Thus far, Minnie has been a picky eater for a beagle, but she’s definitely interested in counter/table-surfing (including getting on top of low tables). She is also a bit of talker and will bark and whine some when excited (and possibly to go out, but not sure about that yet). We’re working on the begging and barking with a water bottle, and she seems to be responsive that. All-in-all, Minnie is a very happy girl in an adorable beagle package, and she eagerly awaits her forever home!

Minnie is a 4-year-old beagle girl who is spayed but needs some additional vetting before she will be available for adoption. She is very sweet and friendly. She came in to the Louisa County Animal Shelter as a stray with Milly, and her history is unknown. Stay tuned as we get to know Minnie better!
