Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Morgan" is a large, handsome 7-yo neutered male GSD with a friendly, mellow temperament. Morgan could be described as a gentle giant, though he's not quite "giant." (He weighs about 95 lbs, but would be healthier closer to 85). Morgan is very affectionate, and loves to be pet and have his belly rubbed--if you stop, he will raise his head or paw to remind you to keep going!
Morgan is fine with strangers, but a good watchdog at the right times. He's gentle with young kids and has been around several with no problems. Morgan is fine with other dogs, but not really interested in playing with them. He likes to chase squirrels and other small critters, so it's unlikely that he's good with cats. Therefore, we will only consider a home without cats for Morgan.
Morgan has exceptional house manners and waits patiently inside for about 5 hours each weekday when his foster caretakers are gone. He has "held it" for even longer periods, and has never had an accident in his foster caretaker's house. Morgan loves to go for car rides, so would be a great traveling companion.
Morgan is a great walking or jogging partner, either on or off leash. On leash he walks right next to you, and off leash he will stay close and come right away when called. Morgan's foster caretaker routinely jogs or runs him beside his bicycle. Morgan is fed Costco's' Nature's Domain grain-free salmon meal & sweet potato kibble, and is in great shape!
Morgan was rescued from the Sac County Shelter in July 2013. A man in Pacheco adopted him in November 2013, but the man returned him to GSRSV in June 2014 because he was having to move from his rental house and could not find a place he could afford that would accept a GSD. GSRSV took Morgan to a foster home in Davis, where he has been living ever since. Morgan's adoption fee is $150.
