My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

oby is an adorable little guy who loves everyone. He is outgoing and friendly, affectionate and playful. He would do well in just about any situation with someone that would give him as much love as he gives them and who would include him as a member of the family. He is definitely not a "toy" dog and would do well with children who liked to play and a back yard to romp around in. Joby is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 18 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Joby loves to play and exercise at any time of the day. He loves to have company a lot of the time and loves people. He always needs lots of attention and love. He loves to run around and enjoys long walks. He is quite social and very friendly to my preteen kids. When we walk him , he always goes to people that he doesn’t know to say hi. When he sees big and tall men, sometimes he does bark and growling, mostly in the evening. When he meets dogs on a walk, he is always friendly and quiet.

Joby currently knows “come, sit down, and drop it”, and we are working on the “stay” command. He is now house trained and will give us a sign when he needs to go out. We’ve been using a crate since day 1. He stays in the crate from approximately 8:30 am to 4:00 pm during the week and he sleeps in the crate. However, he usually doesn’t want to go in the crate, so we give him treats before and after he goes in. Sometimes he comes to the dinner table and waits quietly. He doesn't beg though and instead he just looks for food under the table that someone may have dropped. He walks pretty good on leash once he gets going but a little more training would be needed. Joby is great in the car, in fact he loves rides. He sits whether on my kids’ laps looking out the window or he sits down on the floor quietly.

He doesn’t destroy furniture or chew on any things except his toys so far. However, he barks for a few minutes when we leave our house, then stops. It seems he doesn’t mind looking at passing cars, rather he seems enjoying it. Joby loves playing with his toys and chewing on them. He loves going for walks and having opportunities to run around. Joby is not a big barker at any time and he is generally very quiet in the home.

Joby loves people and attention. Also he’s gentle with kids, also he’s well-behave and loyal. – We were able to train the basic commands within a few days. He would be happy in a family (nuclear family, probably 3 to 4 people) with kids (not known with young children, but kids are older than 9 or 10 and up should be good). He will need regular exercise to keep his energy letting out. If people who likes to run in the morning, he will be a great companion for them. Living in a house or apartment, either way he will be happy as long as he can get enough exercise and love.

If you would like to make Joby part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
