My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Benji is a sweet, loveable and very playful little guy looking for that special person to give him the love he deserves. He has a ton of puppy energy but he is also one to settle on the couch next to you and fall asleep with his head on your lap. Benji is a confident and happy dog who loves to be with his people. Benji is approximately 6 - 8 months old and currently weighs 27 lbs (maybe a bit less after his hair cut!)

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Benji is yet a puppy and has his moments of puppy craziness. He will need further training but being a puppy is the right time to start. In his more mellow moments he is very contented to lay next to you and cuddle. Benji looks healthy and has a great appetite. His coat is very long and has been neglected but we have been working with him. Trying to get it brushed out and looking beautiful as it should be. We eventually gave up and had him groomed as some of the matts in his fur were hurting him. Benji has lots of puppy energy and will need lots of walking and play time.

Benji has not been around a lot of people. He gets very excited and playful when people come over. He has not been around children and I think until he has had a bit of training it would be best if he were not around young children. He does at times get a little aggressive but usually when he is playing. Because he is so young and has had no training he does not understand when someone tries to discipline him. We have two cats in the house but do not allow Benji loose around the cats. We have been working with him to be more calm when the cats are around. He has met other dogs on his walks and seems to be okay with them once he has a chance to sniff them but he is always kept on a short lead.

When we leave the house Benji shows no sign of separation anxiety. He may bark for a few minutes but settles down nicely. He doesn't seem to have fear of anything. When on a walk he looks back if he hears something behind him but he doesn't show fear. Benji loves to be outside in the yard. He loves a game of tug-a-war and he spends a lot of time with his kong. Benji is mostly a quiet dog in the house. At times he will bark if he hears something outside but for the most part he is a quiet dog.

Benji loves food! We are working with him to teach him that he can not take food that is not meant for him. Benji has never showed any signs of chewing furniture or anything like that. Benji has not yet learned any basic commands. We have been trying to teach him " sit " and he is beginning to catch on. He is fully house trained. He has not had an accident in the house since he has been with us. Benji is crate trained...he stays in the crate at night and when we are away from the house. He generally will go in the crate with no fuss if there is a treat for him. Sometimes he may bark for a few minutes and sometimes he doesn't make a sound. Benji is leash trained. He sometimes pulls when just on a collar but if using a harness he is very good. Benji has only been in the car once but it didn't take long for him to settle down and lie in the seat.

Benji is a very smart and beautiful little guy who is just waiting for that special person to come along who will be patient and lead him to be the great dog he has the potential to be. Benji is full of puppy energy but he can also cuddle up to you on the couch and sleep with his head on your lap. Benji is a very confident and happy little guy who has a ton of love to share with someone special. I feel that at this stage of his life Benji would be best in a home where there are no other pets or young children so the focus can be on him and helping him to become a good friend and companion.

If you think you have the time and commitment for this adorable boy, please submit an application for consideration.
