My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Momma is approximately three years old and very affectionate and fun. She loves everyone she meets and enjoys going for walks. She also enjoys lying about on the couch or outside in the sunshine. She has a great personality and beautiful markings. Momma currently weighs 40 lbs.

Here is what else Momma's foster family had to say:

Momma is a social dog and tries to make friends with everyone. She is good with young children. She is well behaved and calm in the house as long as she has enough exercise. She knows her basic commands such as “sit”, “down”, “drop it”, “leave it”, “come”, “no” and “off”. Momma is very quiet in the house. She settles herself when left alone. Even on walks she is very quiet and only whines when not allowed to chase a squirrel. She likes to take off and chase squirrels. We are working on this but for now it is still a challenge. She does not whine or bark at other dogs or people.

Momma is leash trained. She will sit still for her leash to be put on. We are working on her remaining seated in order for the door to open. She does pull a bit, but will sit down when told to stop. She will pull hard when she sees a squirrel. If she does falls behind, she will catch up when told to “come”.

She is being crate trained. We are working on letting her go in and out of the crate on her own, and having her stay in the crate at night. She loves going in the car. She will jump in the car after being commanded. She likes looking out the window, but will also lie down on the seat.

Momma would do well in an active house with other dogs and maybe cats. A good situation would be a house with another dog similar in size and energy to keep her company and to play with. It would be ideal for her to have a backyard to run around, but she will also need to be taken on at least one long walk a day. A family with older children, younger couple, or an active person who could put in the time with her would be best. She would be a great family dog with folks that are willing to continue her training and give her the exercise she needs.

If you think Momma would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
