My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SWIFT is a 4 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 52 pounds. She comes from a rural area and probably would not do well living in a city environment, apartment/condo/townhouse or a busy neighborhood. She is a sweet, lovable girl who enjoys other dogs but mostly loves to be around her humans.Swift was good in the crate for her car ride but pulls on leash because she is so inquisitive as to what is going on around her so she will probably do well with an Easy Walk Harness. She is looking for her forever home and someone to give her the love and attention she deserves. Swift needs a family who is patient and will give her time to adjust to her new surroundings. Swift is approved for kids aged 10+

Update (2/05): Swift has fit in well to her new foster home. She really enjoys interaction with her foster Mom and Dad, as well as her foster doggie brother, Fred. She is eager to play with him and has a lot of youthful energy. She is so smart! She enjoys training and has learned: sit, sit stay, down, shake, and come. She loves to snuggle with her foster family and her foster doggie brother Fred. She sleeps well, eats well, and has perfect potty manners. She is making progress on walks, and walking her 3 times a day has helped, as does using the easy walk harness. Swift would benefit from some formal training as she is so smart and would likely thrive with structured training. She is a very sweet girl who is fun and especially has enjoyed car rides. She is still a little afraid of the dark, but walking at night has helped. If you enjoy a loveable snuggle bunny who is smart, loving, and energetic, Swift is the girl for you!

Update (01/29): Swift has arrived at her new foster home and is acclimating well. She is so pretty and sweet…..and active! She certainly seems to act younger than 4.. She is so smart and is very receptive to learning new commands. She has done well with everyone in her foster home, males and females alike. She hasn't been walked much so an easy walk harness is being used and it is working well. She LOVES to go on walks. She needs work, consistent training and some patience but she does love to snuggle and is really darling, she will make a really wonderful match for someone!

Update (01/20): Foster Swift initially had a tough time letting love in but now is crazy about it! She is starting to gain confidence and listens to Mom. Swifty will need some formal training and LOTS of exercise. She still has a very puppy like attitude but is house trained and does not chew anything. Even though she's been living with two male dogs, she likes being in charge so she might be better as an only dog. Oh yeah... don't let her size fool you... she is a fast girl who loves to run and play

Update (12/19): Swift is enjoying being the little girl in the rainbow of labs in her foster home. She slept well through the night and is enjoying all the new smells in her backyard. She's got two seasoned foster brothers to show her the ropes.

Update (12/17): Swift if patiently waiting for a foster home to open up. She walks well on the leash and is attentive of her surroundings. Swift gets along with dogs and would like to hang out with another energetic dog. She would love to be home for the holidays.

Update (11/13): Let me tell you about all of the awesome things that happened to me yesterday. This man showed up to fix the fireplace in the afternoon, I sniffed him and let him pet me and then let him go about his business. No pestering or jumping from me. When Foster Mom came home she was armed with bags from Petco and the grocery store. She bought me this thing called a Gentle Leader. We worked with it a little in the back yard and I did pretty good and walked much better than with just my collar. Then the fun began we had a class that she calls "Commands 101". I am really good at sit but my stay was lacking. We started slow and by the end of class she could take 2 steps back and I would stay. When she stepped back to me I was rewarded tiny pieces of this yummy yellow stuff. (I'm still licking my chops just like my picture). After class came lots belly rubs and scratches, and I kept hearing her say the word "Potential" and that I have lots of it. Potential sounds like a good thing so I'm gonna keep up the good work. Maybe I'll get some pieces of hot dogs today if I do really good.

Update (11/12): What a beautiful morning we are having. Have I mentioned that I don't start stirring in the morning until I hear the rest of the house moving? Have I mentioned that although I like to play outside, I'm not ball obsessed nor do I feel the need to run like a cheetah non stop. Foster Mom has realized that the best time to walk me on leash is early in the morning before the neighborhood starts buzzing. I get a little excited when there is a lot going on around me. I'm really just a country girl at heart and enjoy the leaves rustling in the wind. If you are looking for a friend to spend those quiet evenings on the porch with I would love to be right by your side

Update (11/11): Super sweet and Snuggly Swift says, I had a great weekend and really enjoyed having my people around all day. It was a busy weekend but we managed to squeeze in a little training. I'm doing pretty good but I still have a lot to learn. When FM tells me to stay, that means stay next to her, right? Running with the pack all day is a lot of fun, but In the evenings when it is time to unwind and start snuggling in, I would prefer to be the center of attention. The words Velcro Lab have been said a few times but I have no idea what that means. All I want to do is love you and be your best friend. I keep looking out the window because I just know that the person who will make me the center of their world will be pulling into the driveway any day now. Could that person be you?

Update (11/09):We have had a busy week here at my foster home. FM says that they are beginning to peel away my layers and really getting to know me. I took a few days to settle in, after all the unknown is very scary. Once i learned that I am safe and loved here I began to blossom. They say I am the most snuggly bug they have ever known. I get along great with my foster brothers, (I'm in the middle in the picture) I think they like having a little sister to tease and play with. I sleep in my crate at night in the family room. FM snuck down to get a drink last night and found my Yellow Lab FB sleeping next to my crate. I think he is taking his Big Brother role very serious.

Update (11/02): Swift spent a lot of time outside playing with the resident labs and foster dad today. She loves to run and chase balls or chase whoever has the ball. After some heavy play she came inside and took a nice long nap. She needs a little help with her kitchen manners, she will sneak a peek at what is on the counter or table, but listens when told no. She loves chew toys especially Kong and elk antlers. She is a very young 4 1/2 yr old and loves to explore everything inside
and out. Extra care should be taken when opening doors to none fenced areas, her curiosity gets the best of her. Cuddle bug is her middle name, she loves to snuggle her humans and wants nothing more than to love and be loved.

Update (10/27): Swift is a beauty! She has enjoyed her first day in her new foster home. Lots of running, swimming, car rides, treats and walks! And now its time for a nap! This lovely lady will make a great addition to a lucky family!

Update (9/30): This girl is just ridiculous and adorable. Are you looking for a goofy, sweet running or walking buddy? Swift is your girl! She worked on her leash skills for a while, and she is a rockstar. She's looking for a fenced yard because she would prefer to take care of business with a little more privacy than a leash allows, but that just makes her a better running buddy - less stops! She's also good in the house. Sure, she'll pop up on the counters here and there just to check and see if there is anything good up there, but she corrects easily and pops back down. She loves to play with the pack outside - wrestles and tumbles and has great fun. She can be a little bossy with the other pups indoors as she's getting to know them and figures out her place in the pack. She's house trained (no accidents, even at night) and settles quietly for the night.

Update (9/29): Swift is a very sweet and goofy girl. She has a lot of energy for a four year old and plays really well with the other dogs outside. She loves to meet other dogs and greets them well on the leash. She will fetch a tennis ball (as long as you don't throw it so far that she can't watch it land) and walks pretty well on a leash. She pulls a bit at first, and if she sees something interesting she wants to check out, but walked loose leash for about 80% of a 2 1/2 mile walk. She's a stunning girl, and very affectionate with people. She should be crated in the car because she's very excited. She thinks having a fenced yard to explore is awesome.

Update (9/26): Swift has some energy. She is sweet as can be and loves being around her people. She doesn't seem to have much training but she just arrived. She pulls on the leash and does better walking with a harness. She would do well with someone who has a fenced yard, because she likes to explore a lot.
