Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi everyone! I’m a hound mix named Ritz, endearingly called “Ritz Bitz” by my foster mom and dad, and I keep hearing them say that I’m AWESOME. I’m about 6 months old, weigh about 45 pounds and have lots of puppy energy and smarts, too.
Ya’ know that song “You Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog”? My foster dad always sings that to me, but I ain’t crying all the time. I’m playing and snuggling all the time! I don’t know which I enjoy more. I can play in the yard for hours (if it’s not too cold) and I love playing with other dogs (my foster family has another really fun dog, so Yay!). I also love to snuggle with humans and do so every chance I get.
I’m comfortable in a large dog crate, especially if I have a kong toy or rawhide to keep me busy, although being left in a crate for long hours is not something I’m used to. I’m learning to earn my treats. I sit like a champ, I’m pretty good at laying down when told and I’m working on patience and focus so I can stay when told. And, yeppers, I’m potty-trained, too! When my foster sister does not distract me, I like a game of fetch with a toy. Sometimes my foster parents get excited and wave to me and call out “Pony, Pony, Pony” because I gallop around and prance just like one.
I may look black in my photos, but really I have some red brindle markings and am very handsome. You can take a look at my mom Hazel on our website for a preview of what I’ll probably look like when full grown, although probably not too different from the photos of me here.
Because I have a very well socialized background (I lived at Wilmette Pet Center for a while), I adore playing with other dogs (puppies or full grown) and would love to live in a home where I’m not the only dog. It’s okay though If I am the only dog, but I hope we can go to dog parks or schedule lots of play dates with 4-legged friends. Do you think maybe I could be the dog for you?
My estimated date of birth is 7-28-14 and my adoption fee of $300 includes: vet exam, distemper combo, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, deworming, flea and tick preventative, microchip and neuter.
