My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sassy is a delightful dog to have around. She is definitely a lap dog who loves to literally be on your lap or at least by your side. She has so much love to give and her energy just makes you smile. Once she is comfortable with you she has so many little quirks that make you fall even more in love with her! I will definitely miss her presence when she finds her perfect furever home.

Here is what else Sassy's foster family had to say:

Coming from a shelter Sassy is still quite nervous about trusting new people, but once she knows you the love, cuddles and kisses she has for you are endless. She is very outgoing once she knows you and ongoing socialization with positive reinforcement would best suit this little lady. She would suit an older single person or couple who are patient and have time to spend with her. I would not recommend children as she is nervous around fast movement and loud noises. She is very quiet, she only barks rarely outside at strangers, so she could do well in an apartment. She is also fully house trained and can hold it for at least 7 hours. Sassy is approximately 3 years old and currently weighs 7 lbs.

Sassy is a very playful dog who enjoys long walks. She is very excited to see you when you come home and will still have some bursts of energy after walks. She also enjoys laying around with you wherever you are. When approaching people on walks etc. she would at first try to run away. She is slowly getting better and can walk by people no problem as long as it is not a loud group. Sassy does very well with other pets. She shows no interest in the 2 cats in the home and enjoys playing with Coco her foster sister. She also shows interest in dogs on walks (friendly) and loves to chase birds and squirrels.

Sassy is very well behaved when left alone. She is also a quiet dog in the home and there is no barking when left alone. She will bark if someone knocks on the door or there is a loud noise. She is fully house and crate trained and can stay alone for at least 7 hours. Sassy's biggest issue is her fear of new people however, if the people get lower down, and have a very calm voice Sassy has no problem approaching them.

Sassy is very well behaved at home. She does not beg for food, does not jump onto counters etc., she will come onto furniture, she does not chew on anything/dig anything. She responds to some basic commands such as "come, stay, sit and off". She is crate trained. I crate Sassy if I am not at home. She has no problem getting in the crate and she is rewarded with a treat. She will settle in and go to sleep. Usually only for a few hours but the longest has been 7 hours and she did not have an accident. Sassy is leash trained and walks very well on leash.

Sassy would be great company for a single person or an older couple. She would do well in an apartment or house. She would be fine in a family setting but with older children only due to her being nervous of loud noises and fast movements.

If you would like to make Sassy part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
