My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Inside the hulking exterior of this Big Brown Bear lies a teddy bear just wanting to come out! Bear was brought into a high-kill city pound but was such a great guy, the ACO kept giving him reprieves until there was just no more time to allot him. Thank goodness a small rescue spotted him and couldn't bear the thought of that being his last day, so they saved him and now Bear is grateful for every day and in every way. We'll never know why Bear was dumped at the shelter, and we'll never know how Bear lost his vision in his right eye, but it doesn't slow him down any! He is a Top Dog -- a natural born leader -- not at all bully, but he is s strong male and would not want to be pushed around by other dogs. But he is a goofball, too, and loves running, playing socializing and wrestling with all the other dogs at the shelter at playtime (even other alpha males)! When new volunteers come, he is so happy to greet them he sometimes jumps up -- and at about 75 pounds that can be a lot of dog!! -- but it's always with a big smile and we're sure he's smart enough to pick up all his manners with a family who will take a little time to teach him. He's been great with all the volunteers of all ages, and his temperament would be fine with kids, too, but his awkwardness might bowl them over - - you decide! Bear is about 4 years old, he's a hefty 75 pounds and he is a healthy boy.
