Are you looking for a mellow dog who is well past the silly puppy stage? Let me introduce you to Tulip, a 5-year-old Shih Tzu who was given up by a backyard breeder. We don’t know how long she was used as a breeding dog; in fact, she may have been someone’s pet at one time. Giving an unsterilized dog “to a good home” often means that the dog will end up with a backyard breeder or in a puppy mill. Unfortunately there is always someone ready cash in on a dog’s ability to reproduce. Tulip deserves a home with a family that will responsibly care for her and love her for her entire life. She, like all our adoptees, has the ability to be a valued member of a family. Since we have no history on Tulip and she is a timid dog, an adult home would best suit her. Behind that shy exterior lies a girl who is just waiting to experience the joys of just being a dog – one whose eyes will sparkle and tail will wag when given attention. She will need to be introduced to the fun of daily walks and regular exercise; soon she will look forward to belly rubs and snuggling time. Tulip is just waiting for that special someone to sweep her up and call her their own. She wants to love like any other dog and she needs someone who will love her right back – no strings attached.
