Malibu here and I’ve got a bone to pick. For the love of dog.... DON’T SHAVE YOUR DOG! Did you know that my coat works like a thermostat? It helps regulate my body temperature in both hot and cold weather. Did you know that dogs only sweat in the pads of their paws? I cool myself by panting and my fur doesn’t affect my ability to do this. So put the clippers away! Did you know that my topcoat consists of guard hairs? They actually keep me from getting wet. The water rolls off my topcoat keeping me warm and dry; this isn’t going to happen for me for quite some time. Did you know that constant shaving often leaves ingrown hairs? This causes my fur to grow back unevenly and patchy and can cause skin problems. What were they thinking! I dream of the day when I will have my beautiful and lustrous coat but it will take a while for it to grow back. Despite all this, my human loved me but could not keep me because of illness. I am an exceptional dog – quiet, charming, loyal, and affectionate. I get along with other dogs but my one true love will be my human. I enjoy going for long walks and hope that will be part of my daily routine. At four years old, I know what it takes to be part of a family and would be a wonderful addition to a family.
