When we came across Rhodey and his brother, Bagel, we tried to network for a Beagle Rescue to take them in. Without success, they stayed with us. It's not that we don't want to save them. It's because if a purebred rescue can take them, then it allows us to save mixed breeds which aren't as desirable. So here he is. Meet Rhodey. He is SUCH a genuine boy. He is of no trouble and just wants a place to call home. He is very unassuming when it comes to getting attention. It's almost like he knows he has a lot of competition at the shelter with all the barking dogs. Rhodey is going to make a wonderful pet for a family who wants a lower to medium energy dog. He won't tear it up all over the house by running on the couches and skid across the floor. He just wants a place to call home where he will be fed, given water, shelter, and lot's of hugs.
If you would like to adopt Rhodey, please contact Malana at Malanadoubledogrescue@gmail.com.
Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
