Patton was left abandoned in a good samaritan's yard. They were away on vacation when they came back to this gentle giant. They thought maybe he would meander back home, but he never did. He stayed close by after they gave him food and water. It was clear that he was starving and extremely thirsty. They realized he was just too good to bring to a shelter and reached out to one of our Southern Volunteers. Patton is just such a good boy. He is mindful of his size when he is playing with other rescue dogs. He will take turns rolling on his back while soft play-biting. We call that being mouthy. That's how dogs play. Patton thinks he is somewhat of a kitten and doesn't think much about crawling into your lap. He just loves being pet and cuddled. He will make a great family dog to some lucky family.
If you would like to adopt Patton, please contact Barrie at doubledogbarrie@comcast.net
Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
