Esme is a beautiful and intelligent cat who bears the traces of the “resourceful survivor” who was rescued from the street at age two. It has taken a while, but she is now a quite well-behaved indoor cat who still retains a rather charming street-wise “sass” that may be the result of her background or could just be her own independent personality. Esme needs a stable home preferably with an experienced cat-owner since she has difficulty with change and can become physically ill while she adjusts. She is also easily over-stimulated and should not be in a home with young children.

Esme gets along very well with other cats but has had no known exposure to dogs. She loves to play and get wildly excited when her foster mom just reaches for the laser, let alone turns it on. Esme is intelligent enough to know where the light beam originates but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying the chase. She is also affectionate and can be a loving lap-cat but definitely on her own terms.

Esme would do well with owners who can enjoy her tough but vulnerable personality and appreciate her capacity for companionship.
