Facts about Rafael

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Black - With White
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Male
Raphael is a loving, playful guy who loves to run (very fast), swim, fetch and to hoard his toys. Although he requires discipline and a patient owner, he is young, is a quick learner, and has the potential to bring his new owner a lot of joy. He belongs in a home with only adults who have a steady routine, because Raphael does best keeping to his schedule. He is crate trained (and house trained) and loves to hang out in his crate even when it's open. He's also very obedient on his leash, has attended obedience training, and has learned to sit, stay, shake hands, lay down, and roll over. While shy at first, with patience and treats, Raphael will warm up. He should be in a family without any children or dominant male dogs. He has never lived with a cat but thinks they look like great play toys. He is a good protector who wants to guard you and your house, so he will need to be taught when to let new people into the home. Raphael was born at the shelter, and all his litter mates have been successfully adopted into loving families. We think it's Raphael's turn to have a forever home -- if you do too, please email the shelter and we will be happy to introduce you to this special guy!

About Born Free Pet Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Born Free Pet Shelter is a No Kill 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization that has been helping homeless dogs since 1980. Located on a beautiful 5-acre refuge in the Redlands of South Florida, Born Free rescues dogs in distress and offers them the chance to lead happy and healthy lives.
We are currently responsible for over 160 dogs, ranging from puppies to seniors.
With the help of generous donations and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we provide the love and care that they deserve.
Some of our dogs will live out their days at the shelter, but we have so many that would make wonderful companions if given the chance.

You can meet our adoptable dogs at any of these locations:
Petco (1635 NW 107th Avenue) every Saturday 12pm - 3pm

Our Adoption Process...

At the time of adoption it is essential that a fee be charged as it will be used to feed and maintain the animals that are housed at our shelter. The adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, rabies vaccine, microchip and sterilization. We do a home check prior to approving any adoption.
