My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 5-month-old neutered male Chihuahua mix. I weigh about 10 pounds. I’ll probably gain a few more pounds as I mature, but I’ll definitely still be completely portable.

I was brought into a local high-kill shelter, without my mother, at just 3 weeks of age. The sad truth about shelters is that puppies at such a young age are usually euthanized unless a suitable foster can be found. The reason for this is because we have to be fed by a syringe and watched around the clock and the shelter doesn’t have the proper staff for that. Luckily, a volunteer decided there was no way that I was going to die and I was sent home with her.

Once I was old enough, the shelter put me up for adoption. I was in the system for 4 months before CageFree pulled me. Thankfully, a lot of that time was spent in my foster home. I’ve heard some terrible stories about shelter life.

A little about me and my personality – I’m a cute guy with a great temperament. I’m sweet, sensitive, and always happy to see my friends. It does take me some time to warm up to people, but once I do, I’m attached at the hip. I think my hesitation to trust people comes from being abandoned. It makes sense, right? Please don’t hold it against me.

I get along great with other dogs. I spend all my time here playing with my rescue friends. When we get tired of playing, we all snuggle up in the sun and a take a nice long nap together. It’s adorable!

I’m still a puppy so I’m looking for a family that is somewhat active. I’m not crazy, but I have some energy to burn. If you like throwing the ball around in the yard or going to the dog park, then please consider me as your new companion. Don’t hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to me meet. I can’t wait to find my forever home.
