My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Don't be fooled by the cropped ears -- Luigi is no tough guy! Luigi is an eye-catching pooch with a very sweet nature. He thrives on human attention and is so eager to please he sometimes breaks into a happy dance when he hears the words "good boy!" Luigi is an affectionate dog who wants to befriend everyone he meets.

Luigi shows friendly interest in other dogs that pass by but will follow his handler on command. Luigi has done well when introduced on leash to dogs of all sizes, and he has had play dates with other shelter dogs and has had a real blast! He loves to romp with his canine buddies and show off his adorable play moves. This good-natured boy has even done well with cats during a brief cat test at the shelter and when walked up to neighborhood cats on walks. So he shows great potential to go home with a well-matched cat, given proper management and introductions.

Luigi spent a couple of days in a home over the holidays (as a break from shelter life). He showed himself to be a medium energy pup -- mellow and cuddly most of the time, entertaining himself with chew toys, and occasional bursts of playful energy. He did very well with crate-training. He relaxed nicely in his crate while alone (following proper exercise, of course), and didn't show any signs of separation anxiety. He even made a great passenger in the car - relaxing or resting in the back seat (or with his head on a lap, if one is available).

Out on walks, Luigi is very attentive to his handler; he makes great eye contact and will sit quickly for a treat. What a highly trainable and food-motivated pup!! He has been attending BAD RAP's weekly Pit Ed training class where he has mastered many obedience commands and is learning basic good doggie manners. After he goes home, Luigi can continue attending these classes with his adopters for FREE!

Luigi is a happy dog with so much potential. We are eager to see him find a home where he can truly shine!
