My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 1-year-old spayed female German Shepherd mix. I weigh about 54 pounds. I’m most likely not going to get much bigger, but I will probably fill out some.

If you haven’t watched my video yet, you should! You’ll see just how sweet and loving I am. Although I tend to be timid with new people at first, I’m just a big teddy bear at heart! And, despite my size, I totally think I am a lapdog. I also happen to be extremely cute so, it’s really hard to say no to me when I want to give you kisses.

I am very playful and inquisitive. If you are looking for an active pup that will enjoy hiking and trips to the local dog park, then I think I might be perfect for you.

Not a lot is known about my history. I was dropped off at a local high-kill shelter when I was found wandering the streets of Los Angeles. I wasn’t super skinny and I didn’t have any injuries so it’s likely I hadn’t been on the streets long.

I was put on hold for 4 days while I waited for my owners to come claim me. Obviously, no one came to my rescue so the shelter put me up for adoption. The person that dropped me off knew one of the volunteers at the shelter and she contacted her to ask if she would network me. Thankfully, she said yes!

You want to hear a really sad story? One day a family came into the shelter to adopt a dog. They ended up settling on a German Shepherd Dog that was very similar to me. The very next day they came back to the shelter with the dog in a trash bag. It had been hit by a car and died. The family was completely unaffected by what had happened and wanted to get back to the shelter before their exchange window closed.

When the volunteer I’ve been telling you about heard what had happened and realized that they were scoping out the runs for a new dog, she quickly grabbed me and hid me so that they wouldn’t know that I was available for adoption. She couldn’t bear the thought of having me go home with them to end up the same way the last dog did.

I can’t believe how lucky I was to make such an amazing friend at the shelter. I owe my life to that volunteer! Not only did she save me from that family, she also arranged for CageFree to take me into their rescue! The next day I was whisked away to their facility and I never looked back.

Now I spend my days hanging out with all my friends while I wait for my forever home. Do you think I would make a great addition to your family? If so, please don’t hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me!
