Hunter has been living with his family since he was a puppy. However, this young family has a toddler and another baby on the way and are finding that giving Hunter what he needs is not possible - Hunter needs exercise and is a bit lost in the busy home about to get busier. Also, the toddler pulled Hunter's ears - he yelped and nipped the toddler. Hunter is still on friendly terms with the toddler, but Mom keeps them a healthy distance from each other to be sure this does not happen again. Our evaluator found Hunter to be a good boy and noted that he does great with older kids. He is cautious and slow to engage with new people, so it will take some time to establish trust with him. But, he loves to chase the ball (will wait to run after it until told to "go",) and develops a friendship with the thrower in short order. He also loves to swim, so he would be a great one for camping trips and other outdoor activities. Hunter is good with other dogs - large and small. Hunter has not had formal obedience training, but he knows all the basics, such as sit, down, and stay. He is not crate trained, but can stay alone in the house and await your return. We do not know how he would do living with a cat, but will "leave it" if he sees a cat crossing the yard or on walks. Hunter is house trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. In Fair Oaks.
