My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JAMES is a 1-year old cream-colored Brussels/Cairn Terrier mix. He is a small dog weighing only 10 pounds. He came to the shelter as a stray. He has been in a foster home since late April and there are several things we know about James:

· Housetrained

· Crate trained

· Wonderful with children (does extremely well with the 2- and 4-year old boys in his foster home)—he truly enjoys playing as well as snuggling with kids

· Wonderful with other dogs, small and large

· Wonderful with cats

· Shedding has not been noticed

· A small but sturdy dog

· Not food or high-value item (bone) aggressive

· Very intelligent and enjoys learning new tricks

· Playful but settles down quickly

· Sleeps through the night

· Loyal, but not clingy

· Does not beg for food

· Not a high-strung small dog – very calm (even fireworks and vacuums do not bother him)

· Walks well on leash

· Loves to be brushed

· He is very happy to chew on a bone and just hang out

· He takes an hour or two to warm up to new people (he will bark or hide – but he is neither an incessant barker or skittish when comfortable)

· “James is a delight to foster. I’ve seen him grow into a stable, healthy young dog. He is a very flexible dog who has done beautifully in our home, which can be crazy! James is ready to join his forever family. You won’t be disappointed!” –foster mom

Application and home visit required. Adoption fee is $400. *** Please note that the adoption fee for our Idaho dogs is higher due to the costs associated with saving their lives. IE Transport(we rent a van and drive there and back, stay in a hotel etc.), initial vetting (shots, chip, health cert and exam) as well as spay neuter when old enough, follow up vaccines while still in foster, worming, flea treatment etc. You will get a list of all services received with your fee.
