THUNDER's Story...
Thunder was picked up by animal services after a major thunderstorm. No chip, no tags and nobody claimed him. When you meet Thunder you'll react like we did - "Why?"

He warms up to you quickly and is very affectionate. In the car he likes nothing more than to put his snout on your shoulder! He fell asleep with his head on his foster mom's daughters lap.

We think he is a 10 month old puppy who is going to be a large boy in a years time! However, he is very gentle but does need training as even sit and down are not yet in place. He obviously has no recall, but will follow you if you make silly noises and act all excited whilst running away from him.

He is playful and friendly with other dogs with no leash reactivity. We have not yet tested him with cats. We'll be walking him everywhere, getting him used to his new environment, visiting places and chilling out after his shelter experience. Everyone he meets ca't stop gushing over his looks!

He likes to play ball, but has not yet learned that letting go makes for a better game.

He weighs about 65 pounds and is a very attractive young boy.

His foster mom reports that he is very good in his crate and learning new things all the time. She took him for a bath last night and he was very well behaved. For example, he had not previously seen a busy road, or even stairs in a house.

We will post more as we get to know him. He is being fostered in San Rafael.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

THUNDER, a Castro Valley German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Castro Valley, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Castro Valley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Castro Valley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Castro Valley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Castro Valley paves the way for another one to be saved.
