Every day we hear what dogs are capable of doing for humans. Dogs help relieve stress, they search out people who are lost or buried under debris, they wake families when the house is on fire, and some can even sniff out diseases. Humans are grateful and love dogs for all of this. In Teenie’s case, it will be the reverse – ask not what she can do for you but what you can do for her. This 6-year-old Yorkie was an unclaimed stray who arrived at Animatch in pitiful condition. Teenie is blind in one eye and possibly limited vision in the other. There is the possibility of some neurological problems as well and appears to have some developmental delays. She is being fostered by one of our Volunteers who says that she is not keen on cuddling and being held; after a short period she tries to get away. Teenie does not connect much with her human or other animals. However, she does love her doggy bed, enjoys her food, and is quite content to observe life from afar. Whoever adopts Teenie must be willing to accept her and love for who she is; she is in her own world but she is very happy there. She will require an adult home where her needs will be met for the remainder of her life. Her guardian may have to be content with the knowledge that they are providing Teenie with a warm bed, healthy food, and a safe haven – with little or no signs of affection. If you feel you can provide Teenie with the home that she needs, please fill in the Adoption Form.
