Shade is 4 year old American Bulldog mix that is 88 pounds of LOVE! This handsome guys is a true gem and would make an amazing companion for most any household.
He gets along with other dogs of all shapes and sizes; is great with kids (has lived with as young as 1), and even cats! We would suggest that while he is great with kids he is a big boy that doesn’t know how big he is and he might knock over little ones in his excitement so any family with small children must be okay with that.
He loves to run and play fetch and he is quick to show off his most adorable trick of “shake”. This boy will benefit from some good daily exercise as he hasn’t had much in the past. He is a bit overwhelming when you first meet him; he just gets so excited to have someone give him attention; once the initial excitement passes he has pretty good manners. His only real flaw is that he will try to jump up for kisses. He will roll over and let you rub his belly at a moment’s notice; anything to gain your affection.
Shade has always been in outside dog but we have not seen any potty accidents yet; so as long as you make sure you let him outside to potty on a regular basis he should be fine. So far he has proven to have good house manners but will need continued work to make sure he knows house rules. He is super smart and very eager to please so the sky is the limit with what he can do.
This boy will need to be an inside dog – his coat was not meant for him to live outside; he needs and wants to be a part of his families daily lives and that includes cuddled by the fire watching tv together. He will need someone who is willing/able to continue to work on his training which he enjoys and it’s a great way to bond. A daily walk will help Shade loose a bit of that extra weight he is packing around and make sure he stays strong and healthy for many years to come.
Shade is neutered, vaccinated, and has been microchipped.
