Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our sweet senior girl Mama Trish. She is in search of a forever home that would appreciate an older lady with just a bit of a handicap. You see, she came to us with 3 legs, but that does not stop her or even slow her down much. She gets around fine, but does get a little tired if she over does it.
Mama has mellowed in her senior years. She is now the greeter to new dogs and welcomes them in. Her bossiness seems to have faded, and she now is content to watch over the others as they play. She will still chase a ball, that has not changed, but is fine with the other dogs as long as they allow her to greet them and sniff. Mama has a calming effect on new dogs when they come in. She would probably be fine as an only dog, or with a calm good natured dog that did not want to play with her or steal her ball or bone. She still likes to think she is in charge, but more of an overseer not intervener. Mama loves to hang out in the yard in the cool evenings or mornings, or on the porch when it is hot for shorter periods. She prefers to have her crate door open and loves to just hang out in there too and really likes her air conditioning as they all do.
If you would like to give Mama a comfortable quiet home to live out the rest of her years, please fill out an app.

Mama is such a sweet girl and we know that it takes a special type of person/family to give their heart fully, only to get back a shorter amount of time with a senior dog but we have high hopes of placing this girl in a loving home where she can get the attention she deserves for the last several years of her life...speaking of that issue here is some helpful info.
The old rule-of-thumb that one dog year equals seven years of a human life is not totally accurate. The ratio is higher with youth and decreases a bit as the dog ages. Depending on the breed, and BTW a GSD has a life span on average of 11 years, a dog of six has aged about as much as a 45-year-old human. And at 10 years old, they are like a human at 65...so actually Trish is like a 58 year old and we all know life starts at 50!
