Meet our sweet senior girl Mama Trish. She is in search of a forever home that would appreciate an older lady with just a bit of a handicap. You see, she came to us with 3 legs, but that does not stop her or even slow her down much. She gets around fine, but does get a little tired if she over does it. However, Trish is getting in better shape now too that she has a safe environment and room to run around. She loves to run around the yard and boss the other dogs around. She has been placed twice in loving homes but not the right fit for her. She needs a strong leader or a home with no other dogs, like we said she can be very bossy. And at her age - she would really prefer to be doted on and have all the attention to herself. She really enjoys lounging out in the yard in the cool evenings and being close to her human.
Name: Mama Trish, since she's the senior mom of the pack. She also answers to Gemma the name from her last home.

Mama is such a sweet girl and we know that it takes a special type of person/family to give their heart fully, only to get back a shorter amount of time with a senior dog but we have high hopes of placing this girl in a loving home where she can get the attention she deserves for the last several years of her life...speaking of that issue here is some helpful info.

The old rule-of-thumb that one dog year equals seven years of a human life is not totally accurate. The ratio is higher with youth and decreases a bit as the dog ages. Depending on the breed, and BTW a GSD has a life span on average of 11 years, a dog of six has aged about as much as a 45-year-old human. And at 10 years old, they are like a human at 65...so actually Trish is like a 58 year old and we all know life starts at 50!
