My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An application must be completed, before we can schedule a meet and greet.

Scarlett is 1-2 years old and a petite 15 pounds. She is puppyish and active. She is a sweet natured dog. Cocker Spaniels are typically great with people and dogs. They love to be with their people as members of the family. Scarlett was rescued as a stray in Korea and brought to this country by dog lovers wanting to help her find a forever home. Scarlett will make a perfect family dog or for a single person with an active lifestyle. Cockers are the smallest of the sporting dogs (like Labradors) so they are typically smart and need activity. Most Cockers love to play fetch. Scarlett loves her toys. She is being fostered in Sylmar with foster siblings - a Maltese and 2 Golden Retrievers, although she would be ok as an only dog as long as she has enough activity.

Cockers have hair not fur, so they don't typically shed much if at all. They do need regular bathing and grooming. Many people choose to keep their Cocker in a short puppy-cut for ease of maintenance. Scarlett is truly a beautiful dog, both inside and out. She's still learning house training, and occasionally still has accidents, but she is learning quickly. She will just need a bit more time, patience and training in this regard. Scarlett is a smart girl who catches on quickly.

All adoptable companions from Welcome Home Dog Rescue come with a full health check up, up-to-date vaccinations and are micro-chipped. All applications are reviewed in the order they are received; however, WHDR will ultimately select the best applicant to pet union.

Who We Are
Welcome Home Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501c(3) non-profit organization that exists solely on donations. We are a group of dedicated individuals working to change the ways our society deals with animal welfare. We are a group of both experienced dog owners/handlers and first timers, who believe all dogs deserve a good home. We need donations, foster homes, supplies including dog food, flea medication, leashes, harnesses, collars, dog beds, bowls and dog crates. We need volunteers to organize fundraising events, help socialize and attend training classes with our dogs and many other necessary activities.

What truly matters to us, is that we make a difference in the lives of abused, neglected and homeless dogs. To help reduce the number of dogs in shelters, Welcome Home Dog Rescue offers rescue and adoption services specific to the adopter’s needs and lifestyles so that both ends of the leash can find a happy home together.

Although rehoming each abandoned or neglected dog is challenging, at Welcome Home Dog Rescue, we believe that each saved life makes it worth the hard work! We believe in spay/neuter, vaccination and microchipping of adoptable pets and word-of-mouth education. We believe that animals are family members who deserve lifelong care, affection and medical treatment. It is our fervent wish to end and prevent needless suffering of animals.
