Otis's Story...
My name is Otis! I am a five year old basset hound mix looking for my forever family. I recently thought I had found them, but they had to return me because it just wasn't a good fit. You see, I love love LOVE being with my people. In fact, I prefer that to going on walks. I don't like to be left by myself, and my previous family had three kids (who I loved) so everyone was always out and about running around. Too busy for my lazy ways. I would love to find a family maybe outside of the city (or at least not right in the middle of it) who can be with me most or even all of the time. I'm pretty indifferent to other dogs, and probably wouldn't mind a canine buddy. If you think we could be a match, come meet me at the adoption center today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Otis, a Philadelphia Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
