Dewey is doing well! He's learned to chill in the house and the only times he's not lounging or chewing a bone is when he's calmly following me or when he thinks there's a chance a foster sib wants to play. He is more quickly realizing when play won't happen and goes back to his comfy dog bed (right now he's lying beside me). Dewey rides crated in the car and eagerly hops in for a ride. He has learned our daily routine and when told "crate" when coming inside runs downstairs and into his crate. He's loose in the house when we're home, if gone a short time is fine in a bedroom and sleeps in the bedroom at night. Dewey eats his breakfast from an interactive toy in his crate when I leave for work and his dinner is in a bowl. He likes food and has fun working with people for treats or playing. Dewey loves playing... he likes toys (working on the returning/fetch bit) and also likes running and wrestling with other dogs (he would, and sometimes does, play with his dog-mates for hours!). He has been to the dog park and loved running and finding more dogs to play with, he especially liked the Newfoundland puppy to wanted to wrestle and the hound mix who wanted to sprint/chase. Dewey also enjoys hiking/running in the woods and fields. Dewey Dubert is still working on his basic manners and is doing well. His recall and leash skills are improving in regular (non-super distracting/exciting) environments.
Dewey is a sweet boy who deserves his own family for the holidays. He likes being petted; when relaxed and you rub his ears/neck Dewey will sometimes let out a cute sigh-moan contented sound. He has big brown eyes that light up when he plays, smile when he's excited, and say thank you and hugs when you cuddle.

Dewey is as cute and fun as his name is to say! In just 3 days he's already earned himself a few nicknames. Dewey Dubert is his goofy playful young boy-dog side. Dewey do I love you, I should say I do! Is his sweet, gentle and enduring side. He has met quite a few people and everyone says he's a big goofy boy. During his health check he curled right up on the Veterinarian's lap and then later licked his human toddler foster sister's face causing her (and the Vet staff) to all giggle. Dewey currently lives with other dogs (his size and smaller) and has met other dogs (smaller and larger) and been fine with them. He loves racing and wrestling around the yard with one of his foster siblings, chasing the group when they hike (stops at the river- he's not quite sure about swimming) and of course being goofy and adorable for treats from humans.
Dewey is making up for his lost socialization time as a pup in leaps and bounds. Until a kind lady took him to help get him into rescue he was kept chained to a radiator. This along with his age means he's a big goofy (sometimes slightly rude) boy when meeting dogs and people. He is not aggressive and when dogs tell him to back off he does, but he does kind of bounce into their face and tries to get them to play a few times before giving up. Dewey is starting to learn that a leash means we are working as a team more like holding hands and a bit less like a draft horse. He very quickly sorted out that being patient and waiting for permission to exit a crate or door going outside is the fastest way to be released. With continued learning of some helpful household rules Dewey will be an amazing fun dog! He is fine being an only dog, but would love a sibling who wants to run and wrestle with him (or lots of playdates with like-minded pups).
The past few weeks have had him in a few different places; so far he has faced all the changes and new adventures in stride. He was leery of going into his crate (car or house) but now happily goes in. Dewey's outlook on life:
Car ride? hop on in for fun- hike, meet sheep, play with other dogs- oh my! Let's go!
Food? Well, of course thank you for asking I will have a treat or two!
New Person? Oh yipee! Gently jump up on you? All the better to raise my large, cute head to see you with! Why yes, I am smiling at you (he seriously will smile when he gets happy or excited).
New Dog? oh please, please, please want to run and wrestle! You don't? Are you sure? Yes you are! Okay got it, but I might check back in a bit to see if you changed your mind. -Another new dog! What? You do want to play? Happy time!
Bone? Nom Nom Nom... chew time!
Kids? Yay! You are fun to kiss and you pet me. Please be steady on your feet since I'm not that coordinated and might accidentally knock you over. I don't mean to, but until I figure out 'manners' it might happen.
Bed time? woof, woof, you don't mean it. BARK Awoooo. Seriously? You're going to bed? Bark Awoo... nothing? Sigh, I guess I'll rest up for another fun day tomorrow too.
