Young Maddie was a street stray in New Mexico. She was rescued to an organization in Salt Lake City, where her current owners fell in love with her and brought her back with them to California. Unfortunately, it soon became apparent the eldest son in the family was severely allergic to her. With regret, the family must seek a new home for Maddie. They have provided the following information.
As of the end of October, Maddie is still only 9 months old, a mixed terrier who weighs 43 lbs. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. She is house-trained and crate trained – has been left alone in the house for up to 4 hours with no incidents. She is food-motivated and learns quickly. So far she knows the commands for sit, down and shake, and is working on stay. She is learning leash walking very well, and likes to swim.
Maddie is still quite puppyish in behavior, with a lot of puppy energy to burn. She would be well suited to a home with another dog to play with. Maddie is super friendly meeting new people, good with small children, and plays well with other dogs - small and large. (However, since she has a strong chase instinct, she would probably be annoying to cats). Maddie is very affectionate with her family. She loves to snuggle after she gets all her energy out and is famous for stretching out on the floor on her back asleep.
