My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Darla. What a pretty girl. We think that Darla might be a combination of Labrador Retriever and German Pinscher?, just a guess. This lovely gal is only 45 lbs and she has a docked tail. She is spayed, microchipped, and current on Vaccinations. Darla loves to go for walk on leash, and walks very well on leash. She also loves to go for a ride and will sit in the passenger seat and be your co-pilot. She is housetrained and knows how to use a dog door. She loves toys as well; can you ask for a better companion? Darla is 6 to 7 years old, well trained and well behaved, and has lots of love to give.

Darla's story is very sad; her owner recently passed away. She used to live with her owner and another male shepherd mix dog, about the same size as her. When her owner passed, Animal Rescue of Tracy stepped up to help care for these two dogs and help them find a good home. Darla's friend, the male dog, has been successfully rehomed and Darla is waiting for her new family to find her and adopt her. Darla was used to sleeping on a dog bed next to her owner's
bed or if invited, would sleep on her owner's bed with him.

Animal Rescue of Tracy's post for Darla says that she might do okay in a home with cats. They know that she seems to do fine with the small, medium, and other large foster dogs at their adoption events.
