Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Starr came to us from near the border as a stray who was going to be put down in a kill shelter. We saved her and have not had her long enough for a good bio on her yet. Please check back with us after we have had a while for more details or feel free to inquire after a week or so.
What we do know is that she road in the transport cars very well, walked great on a leash for the transporter and was gentle when we put her in the crates for the long ride to Austin. She tolerated a young and energetic, playful pup along for the ride too...her traveling companion was Miss Chesi, also now in our group, who came from the same kill shelter. She let her jump around on her and acted just fine during the whole trip. She truly is a shining Starr!
Name: Starr
Age: approx 2 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: VERY underweight at 58 lbs. on Oct 30, 2014
Mix/Purebred: possibly purebred but small and emaciated at intake time
Housetrained: assessing
Crate trained: assessing
Heartworm Negative/Positive: negative
Spayed/Neutered: yes
Micro chipped: yes
Good with other dogs: seems easy going with all dogs she has met thus far
Good with cats: assessing
Good with children: has been good and gentle with all people thus far, but she has not met any small kids yet
Starr came to us very emaciated, as you can see in the pictures. Her little ribs show through terribly and her hip bones are so pronounced, it is so sad to see dogs neglected like this. BUT with a little TLC from her loving foster she will look and feel like a new girl very soon. She does have a tick borne disease which is non contagious and is treated simply with regular antibiotics. We are treating her and she is expected to be to full health very soon.
We have high expectations for this sweet girl, so if you see the potential we do in Starr, please apply for her. We expect every shepherd we adopt to be part of a family, inside the home with their people ( their pack) and included when going on outings where appropriate. Please don't apply unless you intend to give this girl the loving home she certainly deserves and obviously has never had.
If you are interested in adopting Starr, please go to our website to complete our adoption application and someone will get in touch with you.
