Magpie is my name and I am an 11-month-old, 50-lb., female, Lab x Shepherd who was picked up as a stray. Although I have the same playfulness, the same affectionate nature, and the same love of a good tennis ball, chances are most people will just pass me by! The reason is I fall into that BBD (big black dog) category. I just can’t figure out why we are always adopted last. We may not always show up as well in photos but I guarantee that we are just as loving and friendly as the rest of our lighter coloured pals. There are so many good reasons to adopt me. Black dogs like me are quite slimming; a black dog never goes out of style; and a black dog has an aura of mystery even when I am licking your face! So don’t keep me in the dark, I’m counting on you to see the beauty and lovability that other people miss.
