My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Hans Hamburg, but my foster mom calls me "Sammie." I'm a very handsome, longhair chocolate Dachshund and I'm about five years old. A couple months ago, animal control found me wandering by myself in North Houston. I ended up at a shelter, but luckily I didn't have to stay there long because a DREAM Volunteer came and rescued me.

I am a very active and energetic fellow, so I need a home with a secure yard because I love to play outside chasing a ball. I'm not just about outdoor activities however, as I can often be found snuggling inside with my foster family, every chance I get! I enjoy sharing my foster home with other dogs and I get along well with small children too. I'm a secret snacker because the kids frequently slip me treats. I'm a quick learner, and my foster mom has done a terrific job of helping me get ready to be adopted! I'm anxious to start my new forever life with you and your loving family, and I'm hoping you might want me as your devoted companion for life! Hope to to hear from you soon!
