Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET MAX:
MAX is a strong, black and tan, short hair, muscular, tweenie Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher mix. He is 2.5 years old and weighs 19 lbs. He finds himself in the sad position of needing a new forever home because his current human family has to move into a small apartment that doesn't allow pets. MAX is a good ole' boy. He does well on a leash and enjoys the car. He loves going on walks on the leash or off. He is also happy to sit around and cuddle all day if its an indoor type of day. MAX knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, stop, get down. While he doesn't do any tricks, he does come when he is called and he doesn't bark much. MAX is very sweet and gentle. He plays a game where if you whine or howl he 'talks' back at you. And if you gently tug his ears and say 'I've got your ears, Max,' he gently paws at you. (I know...Awww...It's very cute). Like many Dachshunds, MAX is skittish around big dogs, but he generally likes smaller dogs who've been properly introduced and he tolerates cats and children well, though he does prefer the company of adults. What do you think? Would you like a good ole' boy like MAX to care for and allow him to love and care for you? If so, perhaps yours is the forever home MAX is dreaming of.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give our new MAX a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
