Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet DINO
No...not the dinosaur doggie from the Flintstone's. This DINO is a 3 year old, 13 lb, black with white male Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. DINO is very loving and loyal once he gets to know you. As one of the family, you’ll find he loves belly rubs, cuddling and playing outside with his family. While DINO hasn’t had much obedience training, he knows how to sit and he is smart. He even returns to you when you call him. He is a happy little guy who loves to run free and is very fast, so he will need a secure fenced yard at his new forever home. When DINO gets excited, particularly before meal times, he spins in circles. Through no fault of his own, this gorgeous little chiweenie finds himself in the difficult position of needing a new, forever family. DINO is healthy, housetrained, leash trained and very good at travelling in the car. He does fairly well with older children, has lived with other dogs, but he is not cat friendly. Like many small dogs, DINO must be careful with jumping as it can and has caused some muscle strain in his back and hips which forces this active little guy to be still and rest for a couple of days.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give our new DINO a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
