My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 2 ½ year old spayed female Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. I weigh about 33 pounds. I’m the perfect size. Not too big, not too small!

I’m a sweet, loving pup, but I’ve been through a lot in my short life so, I can be nervous in new environments and upon meeting new people. I’m going to need a family that is patient and understands that I need to come around at my own pace. I promise though, once I trust you, I’ll be the most loyal pup you’ve ever known! Shy dogs are very special! They love hard!

Let me tell you about how I got where I am today. Back in March of 2012, at 7 weeks of age, my littermates and I were dumped at the shelter by our owner. They just dropped us off, without our mom, and never looked back. It was a scary time for us. We had never been without our mom before, but at least we had each other.

After about a month of being at the shelter, we all caught a cold. No surprise there! Puppies at the shelter usually get sick because our immune systems are not fully developed. The staff put us on medication and kept a close eye on all of us.

When I was adopted 2 ½ months later I still had nasal discharge! Because I was still sick, the shelter wasn’t able to spay me before I left to my new home. My owners promised to get me spayed once I was well and off I went. I thought I had won the jackpot. New home, new family! I thought it was forever.

My owners had me for a little over 2 years before they dumped me back at the shelter. And guess what??? They never got me spayed. It’s pretty obvious that I had at least one litter of puppies while I was with them. Probably more!

When I was brought to the shelter for the second time, I was not in good shape. I was covered in fleas, had bite wounds on my front legs and a scab on the left side of my head, under my ear. I was most likely attacked by another dog. I was also terrified and didn’t want to be touched! The shelter staff thought that I may have been abused. So sad right?!

My second time around, I spent a month at the shelter before being rescued. CageFree heard about me and immediately decided that I could join their group. I was so happy! I’ve been told that only the most loving families get to adopt their dogs, so I know I am in good hands this time around.

While I wait for my new family, I spend my days hanging out with all my friends here. Despite being attacked, I am still super dog friendly. So, if you have another dog, that’s no problem for me. It would probably help me to come out of my shell. I especially like little dogs!

Oh, I want to mention this to you, I love belly rubs! That was one of the things the volunteers at the shelter made sure my new friends knew. So if you’ve got a great belly scratching hand, I am your gal!

Not that you know a little bit about me, what do you think? Could I be the dog that you’ve been looking for? I sure hope I am! I can’t wait to find the best friend I never had. If you think I would make a great companion, please don’t hesitate to contact CageFree to setup a time to come meet me.
