My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Miss Hope’s foster mama wanted to name her “Happy” but was outvoted by her Facebook friends. She arrived at a kill shelter with 6 puppies and was emaciated and had chemical burns on her back, but when the shelter worker brought her out, her eyes were dancing and that tail was going 50 miles an hour. It was love at first sight. She was named “Hope” because everyone has such high hopes for her future.

Hope is a perky 20-pound Boston mix between 1 and 2 years old. She had a family once, because she is fully housebroken and well-behaved. She also begs and thinks her foster mama is mean because she won’t share. She loves to snuggle, and one of her favorite things is to lie with her head on your chest. To her, that is pure bliss.

She gets along really well with her foster brother and sisters (cats unknown) and happily welcomes anyone who comes through the door. She might not be suited for toddlers because she does jump, but other than that, she would be a wonderful companion for any family from 8 to 80.

Hope is up-to-date on her shots, fully vetted, and spayed. She does have heartworms but is on the slow-kill method, and the rescue will provide medication to finish her treatment. At this time, she also has chemical burns on her back, but they are healing very quickly and do not present a health problem at all. She is crate trained, but she isn't fond of her crate because it separates her from her people, although she settles down nicely. She also is not leash trained; due to the burns on her back she cannot be harnessed at this point. However, she is very intelligent and wants to please, and her foster mama believes she will learn quickly.
