Atticus's Story...
Name: Atticus
Breed: Chihuahua
Color: Black & tan
Born: 10/9/12

Atticus was originally labeled ‘adoptable’ at the Shelter. This means he passed his Asilomar Accords, which is a standardized test the shelters use to determine adoptability. However, he developed an URI or doggie cold and found himself on the euthanasia list. After completing a course of antibiotics, he’s fine.

At only 8 lbs, he’s a little guy. He’s being fostered with dogs ranging in size from a 5 lb Chihuahua to a 50 lb Border Collie and gets along nicely with everyone. There are cats in the home and he’s aware of them, but he doesn’t interact with them on a regular basis. He’s good with kids of all ages.

The adoption fee of $150 includes his neuter, booster vaccine, rabies shot, and rabies license.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Atticus, a Peoria Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Peoria, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Peoria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Peoria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Peoria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Peoria paves the way for another one to be saved.
