Chipper (we also call him Chip) – it’s German for “happy” - is a handsome, 5 year old, 14.2 lb, smooth hair black and tan dachshund. This happy little guy is one great doxie and he's dreaming of a mommy of his very own (he doesn't do well with men). He loves lots of cuddles, enjoys walks, shopping and playing outside (even fetches). CHIP needs to be the only baby in the household -he really doesn't do well with other pets or kids. He is housetrained, leash trained and car trained. He has lots of energy so he needs a doxie proof secure fenced yard to play in. He does best with a predictable schedule and routine. Like most doxies, Chip loves being with and taking care of his people. He loves lap time, story time and play time. CHIP has experienced a lot of transitions in his life and therefore exhibits some anxious behaviors in new environments. He needs a mommy with lots of love and patience, but BUDDY is one smart, loveable doxie who wants to please. Are you looking for a loving, fun, HAPPY doxie to be part of your family forever? If so, CHIP would love to meet you.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give CHIPPER a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at and email it to: The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.

About Oregon Dachshund Rescue Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Oregon Dachshund Rescue Inc. is a 501 c3 non profit with 25 years experience of rescuing Dachshunds. My goal is to provide homes for unwanted, special needs and abandoned Dachshunds. I do not breed or sell Dachshunds for a profit. I receive into rescue 1 to 3 doxies PER DAY. Before adoption all of my rescues are spayed and neutered, made current on rabies, DHPP, bordetella, fecal and dental if needed. The rescues are also groomed, nails done and one month Advantage treatment. I take great pride in finding wonderful forever homes for my rescue Dachshunds. My criteria is very strict because I want to insure the safety and future of each one of these very special rescues. I do not give refunds of any kind for any reason but will offer an exchange for another Dachshund, if you choose. The dog's character, health and physical condition represented by this Rescue is in good faith. The new owner(s) must agree to release, hold harmless and forever discharge Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. from any and all claims arising from adoption of any of our rescue Dachshunds.
