My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Powder! He is about 12 years old, possibly a short Husky/Shepherd Mix. He could definitely use some TLC and a loving retirement home.

He has been brought to Animal Control several times, each time we flea treat him, and his owner comes to bail him out of doggy jail. This time the people who found him thought he had been hit by a car and took him to the vet, where he was later picked up by Animal Control. His owner is not coming for him this time. As it turns out, Powder was not hit by a car, he has a lame back leg from an old injury, and a terrible flea condition (you can see a "hot spot" on his back thigh in the photos). He got a much needed bath, which he tolerated surprisingly well, a flea treatment, and some soothing spray. Despite his age and state of neglect, he is a spunky happy guy. Even with his lame leg, he enjoys his walks and even chased the ball around a little! If you're looking for an older companion, come out & meet Powder!

Born Again Pit Bull Rescue regularly works with the wonderful people at the Del Norte County Animal Control located out in rural Crescent City, CA (a coastal city on the OR/CA border). They have a very small shelter with small indoor 3x6 kennel runs, low foot traffic, odd adoption viewing hours and it rains a lot which means the dogs can’t come outside and play.

We want you to see some really great dogs that they have in their care--it's just a 2-hour drive from Medford to adopt your new BFF!

Del Norte County Animal Control is located in Crescent City, CA. They are open Monday & Friday from 8am to 5pm. They are closed Saturday and Sunday.
