My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! My name is Pele and I am a 9 year old White Cap Pionus. When I get really excited, I like to talk in a high pitched, squeaky voice and I say things like" Hi Pele, Good Boy, and Hi!" My foster Mom says I do say more things, but she can’t quite make out what they are yet.

I am learning something called "playing click" (target training). It's a fun game where, when I touch this wooden stick (target), I hear a click and I get a treat! I love getting treats so I love to play click. So far, my foster mom has taught me to walk down off my cage, onto 2 different playstands, and onto a perch that she can hold with her hand. I have decided that when I'm off my cage, hands don't bother me at all and I would rather get my treat, then lunge at her hand.

I love showers (with a plant mister).I will make happy little chirps and spread out my wings so the water doesn't miss a spot! I am on a healthy diet that includes Harrison's pellets and fresh fruits and veggies (broccolli, cauliflower and apples are my favs). I love to forage on my playstand for nutriberries. My foster mom uses almonds as my click treat, I love them so much!!!!! Matter of fact, I just love to eat!

Lots of noise and excitement (young children and other animals) sort of scares me so it would be best if I'm adopted into a home that maybe only had another small bird. (I dont mind the quaker that my foster mom also has)

I will need someone with lots of patience and love to give that is willing to work with me until I have the confidence to come out of my shell with people. It would also be great to be able to continue "playing click" since I really love that game and I respond well to it. Could that person be you? Please come meet me and we can see!
