Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gunther is a 23 lb., little gentleman of a dog who could be anywhere between 5 and 8 years of age. He appears to be a mix of short-legged dogs - likely Dachshund and Basset Hound, although sometimes he looks like a small yellow lab (complete with lovely blond eyelashes).
Gunther was a Dog in Danger at the Delano shelter, having been there since July. Due to space needs, his time was fast running out. Shelter staff loved him, calling him a "great little guy," and sent out a video with a plea for his rescue by Nov 1. The day that would have been sad became glad as Gunther was delivered to Dusty Paws. Now he is charming volunteers and visitors at adoption events.
Gunther is well socialized with other dogs. At the shelter, he shared his kennel peaceably with several dogs his size and is fostering now with two larger dogs. He is mellow in temperament and easy to handle, friendly but not clingy. He seems comfortable with humans of all ages.
Gunther is good in the home. He doesn't dig or chew and is house-trained. A good communicator, he will let you know when he needs to go out and come in again. He likes to snuggle with you and burrow under the blankets. He doesn't bark much - just a woof or two to get your attention or to tell another dog to back off. He is not a finicky eater.
We think Gunther may be a little hard of hearing, but that doesn't seem to worry him. He also wobbles a bit in back when he walks and has a little trouble with stairs - he would like a ranch style home if at all possible. However, he can really move when he chases a ball and trots along happily on walks. If you are looking for a sweet, undemanding companion, Gunther is your little man.
