Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Patch is an 18lb Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. He is about 4 years old, and when we rescued him, he had a bite wound from being attacked by another dog. As a result, he would prefer to be the only dog in the home for now unless the other dogs are older and will give him his space initially.
Patch is housetrained, not a barker (comfortable to be left home alone to snooze), and overall somewhat of a low energy couch potato- he also asked us to tell you that he LOVES car rides. Only recently has he started to learn how to play with his toys, and seems to be enjoying the thrill of learning how to "Fetch". Slowly over the last few months, "Patchy" has started to demonstrate his craving to receive affection, and is only lately starting to show it in return- little licks on his foster mom's fingers, and big wags of his tail, a sure sign that Patch is finally starting to have his emotional rehabilitation breakthrough! While initially he was stoic and wouldn't give any expressions in return, Patch is becoming more and more of his foster mom's furry shadow; wherever she goes, he is right there with a curious tilt of his head. He is now seeking out cuddles and praise, and finding ways to show that he is enjoying his new life!
He is gentle and shy, especially around men initially, but while he may take a while to warm up, once he does it is a beautiful sight to behold. If you are someone who is not overly active and would love a grateful, calm companion to be your forever friend, Patch is your perfect match!
