My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brody is a big, gorgeous puppy. He is very friendly and affectionate with people of all ages. He would love to be part of a family with older children that would enjoy being involved with his training and just having fun with him. Brody is still a pup even though he is already 74 lbs at approximately a year old, and will most likely still have some growing to do.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Brody is a fun-loving, affectionate boy. He has been very friendly to everyone he has met and considers everyone a friend. Brody is a very sweet dog and loves to cuddle. He is very affectionate with humans. He is still young and will need someone that is committed to continuing his training and socialization however he is eager to please and does well with lots of positive reinforcement.

I haven't had Brody actually meet children. We have walked by a school when the children were getting out and he didn't show any more interest in them than he would an adult. I think Brody would be okay with children, although he does sometimes like to mouth. The parent would have to teach him to stop doing that. He is not aggressive at all towards humans though and he really doesn't jump up too often.

Brody has a lot of puppy energy still and he does not have his manners down pat with other dogs. He may be too much for some more submissive or older dogs and would do best with a younger, more playful dog like himself. He loves to have a buddy to play with though although he does tend to get too excited with the other dogs. I think he should be socialized slowly with other dogs so that his new family can teach him his proper dog manners.

Brody is still very much a puppy and his new family should continue to crate him when he is unsupervised until he has proven himself to be fully trustworthy in the home. He will steal food at this point and may chew things he shouldn't. He should be given lots of toys and things to chew on. In the short time Brody has been with us he has learned come, sit, down, drop it, back up, paw and NO. Ha ha. I'm not 100% sure if he knows off and leave it yet. He does respond well when told "no" and will stop whatever he is doing immediately. Brody is for the most part house trained. We had one accident since he came to our home but since I let him out fairly regularly there have been no further issues. He is crate trained. At first he doesn't want to go in. If you hold his collar and guide him to the cage he will go in now. Sometimes he needs a little tiny push of the bum in encouragement. Ha ha. He'd rather stay out of it, that's for sure. Brody is difficult to handle on a flat collar and I do not recommend it. He is wonderful on a halti though! It's like magic. :)

Brody is super sweet and loving. He just needs an experienced owner who is committed to training and socialization so that he may lead a very full life. I am certain he could fit into just about any situation and his new family will be happy with him. Brody needs to be crated until he can be fully trusted in the home. A yard would not bring him enough exercise, so that's not necessarily mandatory but he does need regular daily exercise. School age children would probably be okay. Whoever takes him needs to have patience and time to take him to training classes. All in all however, Brody is a great dog that will make the right family very happy.

If you think Brody would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
